Therefore, it is not as strong as a full-wood construction counterpart. However, the price is quite affordable, and with care and proper construction, the finished dresser looks pleasing and functions reasonably well. Before putting it together, lay out all the parts and make sure they are not damaged or pieces missing. If so, bring it back immediately and get another. Some packaging is less than desired. The unit is not too difficult to assemble. The hardest part is putting in the drawers. The runners for the doors must be parallel for the doors to slide in and out easily and effortlessly.This product is made of inexpensive materials and has a simulated oak veneer which can easily be damaged by water or nicks from a vacuum cleaner. Don't set a beverage glass on it witout protection. In addition, the bottom skirt can be dislodged if you move the dresser (slide) over carpet. Better to lift the dresser than... This one looks nice in the guest room. Having used Sauder products before, we didn't hesitate to order this sight unseen. Yes, it is not real wood and places (like the back of the dresser) aren't wood at all, but have you gone into a furniture store lately? Inferior pieces at twice the price! At least drawers on Sauder dressers have smooth metal roller mechanisms--many furniture store pieces do not.It took us (husband/wife and no fighting) an evening to put this together, including attaching the accompanying mirror (bought separately). We laid out all the pieces and read directions carefully, which resulted in no problems. And if there were, Sauder stands behind their products. We had issues with other Sauder furniture before, and called customer service. The reps were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
